London mint framed stamps from 1980. The extra large 50 pence stamp shows a montage of London buildings as they were in 1980. It is a beautifully designed drawing of many well known London icons: the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, The Post Office Tower, Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Eros (Piccadilly Circus), Nelson's Column (Trafalgar Square), Tower Bridge and last but not least The River Thames. The 50 pence stamp was specially issued for the International Stamp Exhibition which was held in 1980. At that time the cost of posting a first class letter was 12 pence.
