Pre-Decimal 1970 Framed Stamps
Pre-decimal mint stamps, from 1970. These genuine mint framed postage stamps were issued from 1967 to 1970 just before the currency was changed to the decimal system. The design of these stamps, which is so familiar and still issued today today was first produced in 1967. The stamps are known as Machins after the designer Arnold Machin and the stamps here for pre-decimal currency show the sign for old pence which was a 'd' rather than the 'p' used today
Across the years over 1000 varieties of colours and values of Machins have been issued and they have been reproduced over 180 billion times!
